VASCO: In an effort to sensitize organizers on traffic issues, COVID19 and criminals, Vasco Police, led by PI Kapil Nayak and PI Shailesh Narvekar Traffic Cell, called a joint meeting with Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals Utsav Mandals in Vasco.
The police informed them of the precautionary measures to be taken during the festival.
To avoid any untoward incidents and pollution, the police ordered the Committees to avoid using fireworks.
“We asked the committees to install CCTV cameras, fire extinguishers and
entry and exit gates for people visiting the pandal for darshans,” said PI Kapil Nayak, speaking to reporters here.
Police also ordered security guards to be deployed 24/7 to prevent any untoward incidents.
“Additionally, volunteers should be deployed to deal with queues,” Nayak said.
Vasco PI Shailesh Narvekar’s trafficking cell said the mandals have a responsibility to ensure that there is no alcohol abuse during Visarjan.
“Action would be taken against anyone found under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
The police also said that the Visarjan should end at 10 p.m.
Narvekar said the volunteers will also have to help police maintain traffic during Visarjan.
