While briefing the National Disaster Management Authority’s decision, an official spokesperson said: “There will be a total ban on the sale or use of all kinds of firecrackers in the 14 districts of the NCR, namely Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Jind, Karnal, Mahendergarh, Nuh, Palwal, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak and Sonipat “” The above direction will also apply to all towns / villages in the state where the average ambient air quality in November (based on data available from last year) is “poor” and above, ”he added.
The spokesperson further said that as the holiday season approaches, people typically pop crackers, which can adversely affect the respiratory health of vulnerable groups, in addition to worsening the condition. of COVID-19 positive people isolated at home.
“Accordingly, in accordance with the various directives of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Supreme Court, while exercising powers under section 24 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the Executive Committee of the State has issued guidelines for strict implementation in the state, ”he said.
However, he informed that in cities / towns where the air quality is in the “moderate” or lower category, the sale of only green crackers will be allowed. The hours of use and bursting of crackers have been restricted from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on festive evenings, while for the Chatt festival it will be the same from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and on Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve. ‘An, when such fireworks begin. around midnight, it will be from 11:55 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. only.
The spokesperson said that the Haryana State Pollution Control Board will separately publish the list of the aforementioned towns and villages and make it available online on its website.
