San Antonio’s official New Year’s Eve fireworks display returns to downtown, the San Antonio Parks Foundation announced on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Last year, the city’s display went virtual due to the pandemic. The event typically attracts over 70,000 enthusiastic revelers each year.

Celebrate SA, the official New Year celebration of the city of San Antonio, will continue its tradition and will take place on Alamo Street, La Villita and Hemisfair between Market Street and César Chávez Boulevard. It will be from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, December 31. The event is free and open to the public.

Produced by the Parks Foundation and the city, the event features live entertainment on the Hemisfair stage by DJ Catwalk and Andria Rose. High-energy party band Mixture will close out the evening, according to the foundation’s website. The 10-piece band will rock all the favorites for 200 minutes straight.

Audiences can also expect live entertainment on the Arneson River Theater stage along the San Antonio River Walk. The Vibe Stage, located at the corner of Villita Way and South Alamo, hosts DJ Xavier the Freakin’ Rican of Univision’s Vibe 107.5 FM.

Plus, there will be a full lineup of family-friendly programs, including a carnival, located at the corner of South Alamo Street and César Chávez Boulevard, featuring games, rides and attractions for all ages. South Alamo and Villita Way will be lined with stalls from local food vendors and artisans offering various options, the foundation’s website said.

The night will be crowned by a communal countdown to midnight, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
